Philhealth the National Health Insurance Program established in 1995 with the aim to help Filipinos in their medical bills. Philhealth is the commonly used words of Philippine Health Insurance System.
It is mandated by the government and works like and insurance company that will take charge part of you medical bill.
It is mandated by the government that all employees should be a member of Philhealth. Non employed person is also welcome to be a member, tagged as voluntary member.
Once a member you can avail certain benefits as long as you have paid your monthly contribution.
Benefits of PhilHealth
- Inpatient benefits – refers to the hospital confinement bills that Philhealth will deduct from you total bill . To avail this benefit you should be admitted in an accredited hospital for at least 24 hours and also the your physician is also accredited of the Philhealth.
- Outpatient benefits – payment for a non-emergency procedure wherein the patient is safety sent home after such surgery. Payment for these procedure are directly made to the facilities
List of Outpatient Benefits
- Day Surgeries – minor to major operations wherein the patient is sent home after operation. No need for confinement
- Radiotherapy – a radiation treatment using Cobalt and Linear accelerator. The case rate using cobalt is P Php 2,000/session and for Linear Accelerator is Php 3,000.00. One session is one day deductible from the 45 days allowable per year.
- Hemodialysis – a treatment for advanced kidney failure. Covers both inpatient and outpatient with a case rate of Php 2,600.00/session. One session is one day deductible from the 90 days allowance per year.
- Outpatient Blood Transfusion – Cover outpatient blood transfusion only and with as case rate of Php 3,640/session. One session is 1 day deductible from the 45 days allowance per year.
3. Z Benefits – Benefits for a serious health condition that trigger prolong hospitalization and expensive treatment. A mandatory package services for the totality treatment & care of patient condition. This includes accommodation, Medecines , Laboratories, & Professional fees.

4. SDG- related benefits – Benefits Packages and Amount
- Outpatient Malaria Package P600.00
- Outpatient HIV-AIDS Package P30,000.00 per year (P7,500/quarter)
- Outpatient Anti-Tuberculosis Treatment through Directly-Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) Package P4,000
- Php 2,500 – Intensive phase
- Php1,500 – Maintenance Phase
- Voluntary Surgical Contraception Procedures P4,000.00
Main Condition in availing Philhealth
- To become eligible to PhilHealth benefits, A members should have paid a total of nine (9) months premium contributions within the immediate twelve (12)- month period prior to the first day of confinement. The twelve (12)- month period is inclusive of the confinement month.
Additional Conditions:
- In Patient Benefit: – Confinement in an accredited hospital for 24 hours due to illness or disease requiring hospitalization. Attending Physician must also be Philhealth accredited
- Outpatient benefits – Facility should be accredited by the Philhealth.
- Radiotherapy – A member should have at least one (1) day remaining from the 45-day annual benefit limit.
- Hemodialysis – A member should have at least one (1) day remaining from the 90-day annual benefit limit.
- Outpatient Blood Transfusion – A member should have at least one (1) day remaining from the 45-day annual benefit limit.
- Z Benefits – – have not utilized the full amount of the benefit package.
- SDG Related – have not utilized the full amount of the benefit package.
