How to Avail SSS Sickness Benefit Informations.
Sickness Benefit – is a daily cash allowance paid by the Social Security system to its qualified member which is equivalent for the number of days such member cannot work due to sickness or injury. The Social Security System allows a 120 days sickness benefit with in the calendar year.
Members daily Sickness Benefit allowance is 90% of his/her average daily salary credit.
Availing SSS Sickness Benefits qualifying Conditions .
- The member has paid at least 3 months of contribution within the 12 months immediately before the semester of sickness or injury .
- The member unable to work due to sickness and injury for at least 4 days and confined either in home or hospital.
- The member has no more company sick leave credits.
- The member has notified their employer regarding the sickness.
- For non-employed member they must notify SSS directly by filing a sickness benefit application
Once you have met the 4 qualifying conditions you are now ready to process your SSS Sickness benefits.
SSS Sickness Benefits Processing for employed Members.
- Accomplished the SSS sickness Notification form. (this can be downloaded in sss.gov.ph) the form has 3 parts.
- Part I – to be filled up by the Member
- Part II – to be filled up by the Employer
- Part III – to be filled up by the Attending Physician.
- Secure Original or Certified copy of Medical Dcouments such as
- Laboratory results such as X-Ray, MRI, CBC & others
- Operative Records for those undergone operation
- Medical Abstract if admitted to the hospital
- Photocopy of Member’s UMID/SSS ID. If not available any 2 valid IDs.
- Once the 1,2,3 is complete submit it to your company nurse of HR Benefits in charge for checking. HR incharge will advise you when to expect the payment of your SSS sickness benefit.
As an employed member, your employer should pay your SSS Sickness benefit in Advance, and then Employer will file reimbursement of such claim to Social Security Office.
